Investigative report with quantitative analysis of the new Lucky Charms with "More Magic mini Charms" versus the older possibly less magic maxi charms.
This inquiry was prompted by the announcement on the new packaging of more magic mini charms. But at what cost? And more what? More magic? More charms? More volume? Move mass? More what?!
So I got a box of the new charms and a box of the old charms, and decided to find out...
Here are the numbers I got:
Description | Less Magic | More Magic mini |
---|---|---|
Original weight | 590 g | 564 g |
Box weight | 94 g | 95 g |
Car weight | 25 g | 0 g |
Bagged cereal weight | 472 g | 469 g |
Calculated weight | 591 g | 564 g |
Cereal weight | 362 g | 360 g |
Marshmallow weight | 111 g | 111 g |
Calculated cereal weight | 473 g | 471 g |
Marshmallow count | 429 pieces | 881 pieces |
So it looks like the weight is the same, but the count is much higher, at least for the marshmallows. I have yet to determine whether or not the amount of magic is the same or different, although the old box states that the cereal in general is "Magically Delicious" while the new package seems to refrain from making that claim. And I did get a Lego car in the old box; that's kind of magic.
